Vida – Year-End Report 2025

Vida shows positive results in a pressured and rapidly changing industry

2025 began on a positive note for the sawmill industry and for Vida. However, a clear shift occurred during the summer. Global uncertainty dampened construction activity which led to a significant decrease in demand for sawn timber. This pushed prices down and made market conditions considerably more challenging.

At the same time, the raw material market was affected. Uncertainty among forest owners led to limited supply, while raw material prices remained on a historically high level. The result was an unusually large gap between the cost of raw materials and revenues from sales – a challenge felt across the entire industry, including Vida, during the second half of the year.

Additionally, the strengthening of the Swedish krona further weakened the export business.

Despite these circumstances, Vida delivers a positive result for the full year 2025. Operating profit amounts to +9.9 million SEK.

Group CEO’s Comment: Navigating a Changing Market

“2025 has been characterized by significant market changes, and we have had to make several strategically important decisions. For many years, we have built a global delivery network with our own warehouses and staff at multiple locations. This has made us more agile and enabled us to direct deliveries to where purchasing power and demand are strongest. In 2025 we further strengthened this through two new warehouses in Japan. Our delivery network has been crucial in securing the distribution of our products throughout the year.

In the second half of the year, we intensified our focus on costs and implemented internal savings programs. It has been challenging, but it also makes us better prepared for when the economic cycle turns.

Our employees are Vida’s most important asset. Their commitment and perseverance enable us to continue developing and performing, even when the industry as a whole faces difficulties. Ending the year in the black is a result of their efforts,” says Karl Johan Löwenadler, Group CEO of Vida.

Summary and Outlook

The sawmill industry now finds itself in a significantly tougher situation than during the very strong years we have just left behind. As a cyclical industry, we are affected by economic conditions, exchange rates, and global political stability – factors beyond our control.

Therefore, we continue to focus on what we can influence, such as optimizing our mills and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and customers.

Raw material prices have been at historically high levels but are adjusting to the new market conditions.
