Vida strengthens its position as Sweden’s largest sawmill group

In July, it was reported that Vida had signed an agreement to acquire AB Karl Hedin Sawmills in Karbenning, Krylbo, and Säter. The transaction was completed yesterday, on September 17, 2025.

“We are happy that the deal is now finalized and that we can welcome three new sawmills to the Vida Group. These sawmills are a great complement to our twelve existing ones. Vida’s vision is ‘To grow,’ and through this acquisition, we are establishing ourselves in a new geographic area and further strengthening our competitiveness,” says Måns Johansson, CEO of Vida AB.

The sawmills currently produce approximately 550,000 cubic meters annually, and following the acquisition, Vida will have an annual production capacity of 3.3 million cubic meters. Vida’s future production capacity and the specialization of the sawmills will enable the company to further improve its offering to the finished goods market and be an attractive supplier of sawn timber.

Through the acquisition, Vida is establishing itself in new geographic areas, allowing the company to be closer to even more forest owners in Sweden.
