Vida implements restructuring – production at Vida Gransjö will be phased out as Bruza’s new planing mill begins operation

Vida announced today that it will phase out production at Vida Gransjö during the spring of 2026. The decision follows changing needs within the Group and increased capacity at other Vida facilities.

Vida reopened the Vida Gransjö facility in 2020 to meet the need for increased drying capacity and further processing as the Group expanded its production. However, conditions have shifted significantly in recent years including the Group’s investment in its Bruza sawmill, where a completely new planing mill has been constructed and is scheduled to begin operation in the second quarter of 2026.

Wtih this expansion at Bruza, roughly 80% of the volumes previously processed in Gransjö will be transferred there. At the same time, drying capacity has been expanded at several Vida sawmills, including those in Vimmerby and Mörlunda. These upgrades resulted in the sawmills now handling the volumes that once were sent to Gransjö. Taken together, these developments mean that the need for operations at Vida Gransjö is no longer at the same level as before.

Another important factor behind the decision is the opportunity to reduce internal transport, as each sawmill can now manage its own volumes. This leads to greater efficiency and a lower environmental footprint.

Vida is actively supporting the employees affected by the change and recognises that this is a significant transition. Of the 13 employees currently working in Gransjö, the company will be able to offer several positions at the facility in Orrefors.

Production at Vida Gransjö will be gradually phased out during spring 2026 as the new planing mill in Bruza is brought into operation.
