In giving details of its carbon footprint, the VIDA group of which VIDA Paper is part, is guided by the “ten-toed” model developed by the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI). When calculating the carbon footprint there is no legislative model or set standard. However, if your company is guided by any other model, please give us your details and we will give you ours in order to present you a comparative result.
The ten toes (elements) in CEPI’s calculation framework analyse a product’s carbon footprint throughout its life cycle.
The forest industries in Sweden recommend the above framework for other products made of wood. For more information about CEPI, click here.
VIDA Paper has elected to give details in respect of eight of CEPI’s ten toes. This is because toes 8 and 9 relate to emissions in connection with using a product until it has served its purpose. They are consequently outside VIDA Paper’s sphere of influence. In toes 1 – 7, the VIDA group details the various processes that give rise to carbon emission or uptake. The VIDA group devotes toe 10 to detailing aspects that are positive for the climate and are a direct consequence of VIDA’s operations. Some of these benefits can be difficult to quantify. Half the pulp used in VIDA Paper’s paper is bought externally but is detailed along with VIDA Paper’s own figures.
