Building upon two years of continuous investment at Vida Paper Managing Director - Lars Rosen today announced that a further SEK 20 million would be spent, this Summer, on creating a fully integrated, production control and management system at the mill.
The contract for supplying the upgrades has been placed with Industry automation specialists ABB of Sweden.
Lars Rosen commented: “I am delighted to announce that we are able to press ahead with investments here at Lessebo despite the prevailing, challenging market conditions. This decision to continue to invest further underlines the ongoing commitment from Vida AB, our parent, to the needs of our customers and the future of the mill.”
Once completed the installation of these systems will create a single, unified, production control system across all three of our paper machines. This will yield benefits in efficiency through maximum utilization of machine width, speed in colour and grade changes (the mill currently makes over one thousand of such changes per year!), greater consistency in substance, profile, formation and surface and a coherent unified working system for our employees”
All installation work will take place during August 2009 during the planned mill summer closure.
